Tommie's junior A's opened their championship account against Skehana in Ballinasloe on Saturday evening. An exciting sprinkle of youth allied to some experienced campaigners led to an impressive display. They emerged victorious on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-08.Very little seperated the teams in the first half. Tommie's were lucky to lead at the break by 2 points, 2-05 to 1-06,thanks mainly to goals from Declan Larkin just on the stroke of half time and earlier a neat finish from Conor nevin after good work from Michael Tuohy and Ray Daniels.Larkins's increased the work rate all over the field in the second half and good points were picked off by Peter English, nevin, and Michael Garvey.A power house display by Damien ''Pat Fox'' Brudar epitomised the Larkin's work ethic.Tommies were solid in defence with Paul Kelly, Ciarán Fahy and Owen Rohan forming a strong half back line.Behind them veteran Barry Donohue was ably asisted in the full back line by Owen Monaghan and the tigerish Noel 'golly' Gorman with Shane Kelly solid in goals. John Glynn and Peter English impressed in midfield.Up front Larkins looked dangerous with many different scorers. Tommie's will hopefully improve further on this performance against last year's junior B winners Barna Furbo on Friday evening next in Loughrea.
