The 2011 senior championship got off to a disappointing start for Tommy Larkins in Loughrea on Saturday against Mullagh. Larkins came out on the wrong side of a 5 point defeat in the end, losing to a strong Mullagh side. The opening moments of the game looked bright for Larkins but the concession of two goals early on proved their undoing as they struggled from there on to bring the deficit back inside 6 points. The second half saw an improvement in performance with the introduction of Eamon Hayes strenghtening the defence. Jason Flynn increased the threat up front when he came on too but, though they managed to get it back to 4 late in the game, that was as close as they would come, and Mullagh picked up the 2 championship points on offer. Next up for Larkins is Portumna on May 1st.
